You’re Invited to Cabaret AMTA!

Get ready for an unforgettable evening of music, talent, and community! The Aurora Music Teachers Association (AMTA) is thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Cabaret AMTA.

Students are invited to sign up for this special event, which will feature – but not require – popular music in any style (feel free to play a classical piece if that’s you’re thing). This is a FREE event! There is no charge for participants or guests, so bring your friends and family to enjoy a night of wonderful performances in a cozy atmosphere.

Whether you’re a performer or an enthusiast, we can’t wait to see you there for a night of coffee and cabaret!

AMTA Celebrates Our Seniors

– April 19 • 2PM at Shalom Park – 

AMTA once again celebrates our Graduating Seniors with a recital at 2PM on April 19 at Shalom Park (14800 E Belleview Dr, Aurora, CO 80015). Let us know which of your students are seniors so we can recognize them during the program. A teacher can register up to six students, who can play one piece not to exceed five minutes.  Memorization is encouraged but not required.

AMTA sponsors four student recitals throughout the year.  These recitals are designed to offer performance opportunities for the growth of our students and the enjoyment of their families.

Applications for scholarships are now open until December 15.

Two times a year AMTA accepts scholarship applications from students of AMTA teachers.  If accepted, students may receive financial awards for such activities as state and national competitions, university tuition or books, summer camps, workshops, music software, and more.

AMTA‘s Adult Student Potluck combines a relaxed recital experience along with the lively atmosphere of potluck dining.
Our Potluck will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2:00 PM. Location is Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 4500 E. Hampden Ave., Englewood, CO 80113.

Students are requested to bring the following potluck dish according to the first letter of their last name:

  • A-L: Main Dish
  • M-Z Dessert

Twice a year, the adult students gather on a weekend afternoon where they may visit with other adult students, make new friends, and when they feel ready, may choose to perform.  Some less confident students may choose not to perform at all and that’s OK too.  Eventually, however, they may change their mind once others have taken to the spotlight, and find they enjoy performing. Whatever the outcome, this opportunity is for the adult student to enjoy performing among other adults, as children grades K-12 will not be in attendance. Registration deadline is May 17th.

Please remind your adult students that it’s best for young children to stay at home.

Aurora Music Teachers Association invites you to enjoy the activities of our 2025 Achievement Day

Achievement Day recognizes the incredible musical achievement of our students while providing a sense of accomplishment in a non-competitive environment.  Students perform two selections for a teacher-listener who ascertains that the student has met the requirements for their chosen level.  In addition to these songs, students complete a minimum of two optional activities, which may include a theory test, sight- reading, art project, original composition, and much more.

While attending Achievement Day, students also have the opportunity to perform in a recital, participate in the music game room for prizes, test their theory knowledge, and enjoy student artworks and projects.

Students wishing to achieve a higher level of performance are invited to register as a SUPER ACHIEVER.

Winter 2026 Composition Festival
Since 1993 AMTA Composition Festivals have provided students of AMTA teachers the opportunity to create, write, record, and perform their own compositions.  Each year’s recital is scheduled for the month of January. The 2026 date is January 18th.  Students may elect to enter the festival for critique only, and not play in the recital.
 
 AMTA is always proud of the students who take the extra time for this project, and display their music writing skills.  Each year a Colorado published composer critiques each composition with encouraging and informative comments.  Comment sheets are returned at the recital.
 
The deadline for entries is December 19th, 2025. The cost per submission is $20.
 
Submissions must include an email with attached MP3 or MP4 recording or video of the student composition, plus an attached PDF of the score (hand written or computer generated notation accepted).
