About Us

Aurora Music Teachers Association is a 501(c)(3) professional non-profit organization of independent music teachers serving Aurora, Colorado and its surrounding areas since 1977.

AMTA’s members offer music education for many instruments including piano, voice, strings, woodwinds, brass and guitar, along with music composition, theory, and performance. We promote the musical growth of students and teachers alike, through education, performance and service.

AMTA was selected as the Colorado State Music Teachers Association of the year in 1996 and awarded the “Arts for a Better Tomorrow” award from the Aurora Symphony Orchestra in 2011.

AMTA meets monthly on the second Friday of each month from September through May. With the exception of the November and May meetings, all other meetings are held at the Aurora Central Library located at 14949 E. Alameda Parkway in Aurora. Please note our AMTA Meeting Calendar where you will find a list of program dates and topics for the current season. All members and guests are welcome

Students of AMTA members may participate in a wide variety of activities including recitals, festivals, competitions, and master classes. Please see our AMTA Calendar for more details on these exciting events. Students are also eligible to apply for scholarships for music camps, workshops, competitions, and university tuition/books.

We are affiliated with the Colorado State Music teachers Association, CSMTA, founded in 1921, as well as Music Teachers National Association, MTNA, founded in 1876.
